Background
Laird was raised on Vancouver Island and hails from a logging family. This background was carried over into his professional life through his work on many forest industry transactions and his continuing interest in the manufacturing industry. Laird moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1981 to attend the University of British Columbia and after graduating, articled at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP). Laird is now a Director of LDMB Advisors Inc.

Laird has authored and presented many courses and papers for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and CICA, and has served as a tutor for the CICA In-Depth Tax Course. In 2004, Laird presented a paper on estate planning issues for the Pacific Business & Law Institute.
Personal Interests
Laird currently makes his home in West Vancouver, British Columbia where he lives with his wife and son. When not coaching his son's soccer and baseball teams, Laird plays league tennis at a local club. Laird also enjoys fishing and hiking.
